The FBI is currently seeking Joanne Deborah Chesimard AKA: Assata Shakur for the murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster. According to agents, Joanne Chesimard is responsible for the 1973 murder of Trooper Foerster. Chesimard is a black militant and was convicted of murdering Trooper Foerster during a shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Three armed men attacked the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton in 1979 and helped her escape.

She has been living in Cuba under the protection of the Castro government with free housing and a free car.

She has now been added to the FBI terrorist list and the reward for her capture has been doubled to $2 million dollars.

Chesimard has scars on her chest, abdomen, left shoulder, and left knee.
