An officer was injured after a police chase ended in a shooting and a standoff at a north Sacramento home, law enforcement sources told KCRA 3.

The officer was shot sometime during the incident, sources said. She was taken to UC Davis Medical Center to get treatment for unknown injuries.

Sacramento police were chasing a suspect in a stolen vehicle when the person fired at pursuing officers with what appeared to be a rifle. Sources said the suspect then abandoned the vehicle and ran into a home.

Officers have surrounded the home near Edgewater Road and Redwood Avenue.

Sacramento police said the person is firing a gun in the area. People are advised to stay out of the area.

Several gunshots were heard in the area around 7:05 p.m., a KCRA 3 reporter said. Officers at the scene said the suspect is using a high-powered rifle.
