David Anthony Pike Wanted for a Murder He Allegedly Committed 30 Years Ago

UPDATE: David Anthony Pike was arrested in San Juan, Puerto Rico under the alias Stephen Williams Varner, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico Rosa E.Rodríguez-Vélez.

ID #14-614

David Anthony Pike has been wanted by Alabama authorities for nearly 30 years. He was aired once on AMW on Sep 28, 2002.

On Jun 21, 1985, Pike, 23-year old Calvin Lee Irwin and a third man drove off in Pike’s car in Opelika, Alabama after they had spent several hours together.

Authorities say Pike and his accomplice decided to rob Calvin but ended up beating and shooting Calvin to death. After Calvin’s body was found in a roadside ditch, both Pike and his accomplice were arrested in connection with the murder.

Pike was released on bond and then vanished.

The Alabama Department of Public Safety thinks that Pike may be in Michigan for whatever reason. Wherever he is, he’s probably in a small town, doing odd jobs and not drawing attention to himself.

If you know his whereabouts.

Fugitive Watch was founded in 1992 by two San Francisco Bay area police officers, Steve Ferdin and Scott Castruita. Fugitive Watch is a reality-based television show, newspaper and website, fugitive.com. We can also be found on social media such as InstagramFacebook, and Twitter. The mission of Fugitive Watch is to make Your community safer by helping law enforcement fight crime. Fugitive Watch brings the community, local business, and law enforcement together to solve crimes, apprehend wanted fugitives and provide education and crime prevention information to the community.

Business and private sponsorship help Fugitive Watch empower the community to strike back at crime from the safety of their living rooms. Fugitive Watch has been credited by law enforcement with over several 1000 crimes solved or fugitives apprehended. Fugitive Watch also helps improve the safety of police officers by locating fugitives for law enforcement so they can more safely arrest them rather than unexpectedly running across them through extremely dangerous routine “chance encounters”. As law enforcement officers know all too well, These “chance encounters” have resulted in countless officer injuries and deaths.

  • I can’t thank you guys enough for running with this story. Calvin was my Uncle. David has gotten away with this for far to long. It’s time he was found and brought to justice. My Grandmother passed away this past September. Calvin was her youngest child. She was never the same after he was killed, none of my family was. I promised my Granny that I would never give up on this case and would see David Pike brought in. The sheriff’s dept has been working hard on it, but with a case this cold, they can use all the help they can get. Calvin also has two sisters that still need closure. Thank you.
