Santa Clara Police Shoot and Kill Man Firing Gun at Gas Station

Santa Clara, California police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened early Saturday morning at a gas station.

At around 5: 42 a.m. officers received multiple reports of a heavily armed man who was shooting inside a Rotten Robbie Gas Station located in the 3400 block of Lafayette.

Initial reports indicated that several victims were down.

Responding officers could hear and see the man shooting inside the store.

Officers confronted the suspect and shot him. He died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Upon further investigation, officers learned that before the suspect arrived at the gas station, he had traveled to another Rotten Robbie’s gas station at 19030 Stevens Creek Boulevard in Cupertino where he worked.

Authorities say he set a fire inside the cashier’s kiosk before leaving the business.

The suspect is being identified at this time as a 55-year old resident of San Jose.
