Police Searching for Man Who Used Fake I.D. Card in Attempted Burglary

ID #18-157

Petaluma police are looking for a man who attempted to commit a burglary at a US Bank location on Friday afternoon. The suspect entered a US Bank inside a Safeway at 4:53 p.m. and handed the bank teller a withdraw slip, according to police.

The suspect had written someone’s name and account number on the slip, and handed the teller a California license with the same identification. The bank teller told police that they were suspicious of the man, and thought the identification card might be fraudulent.

Police said the suspect became increasingly nervous while the teller was processing the transaction. The suspect eventually left the bank without taking any money.

During the investigation, police said they discovered that the I.D. card had the correct information for a victim, but was accompanied by a photo of the suspect. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 60 years old with gray hair, a mustache and beard.
