San Rafael police arrested a 73-year-old man Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young girl 10 years ago. Victorio Pedroza Alonzo, of San Rafael, lived with the girl’s family at the time the girl was between five and six years old, police Sgt. Lisa Holton said.
The girl, now 16, told her mother about the assaults and her mother notified police in January, Holton said. The police investigation determined Alonzo abused the girl over the extended period of time that he lived with the family, Holton said.
Alonzo was arrested Thursday morning at his place of employment as a janitor at the Corte Madera Town Center. He was booked into the Marin County jail for sexual intercourse with a child 10 or younger, sexual penetration with a foreign object and selling or providing harmful material to a minor.
He is being held in the Marin County Jail under $250,000 bail.
