Couple Arrested Tuesday for Identity Theft in Fairfield

Police arrested two people Tuesday morning on suspicion of numerous offenses, including identity theft, police said. In early January, a victim filed a report about identity theft and forgery. They reported that the suspects had stolen more than $5,000 from their bank accounts, police said.

During an investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance videos from ATMs and local businesses and were able to identify the suspects at 31-year-old Emilio Varela and 40-year-old Briana Morales, both of Suisun City, police said. Detectives learned that the couple had been staying at a hotel in the 1000 block of Oliver Road.

On Tuesday morning, detectives searched their hotel room and vehicle and found evidence connecting them to mail theft, fraud and identity theft. Varela and Morales were then arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of identity theft, possessing stolen property, and conspiracy to commit crimes, police said.
