Peggy Cox Unsolved Murder Case Still Open After 26 Years, Detectives Asking Public for Help

Detectives asked the public for help Wednesday on the 26th anniversary of Peggy Cox’s murder.

According to the Franklin Police Department, Cox was shot and killed while working the drive-thru window at the Hardee’s on Murfreesboro Road on February 1, 1991. It was Cox’s 49th birthday.

Police said Cox took an order from the killer who then drove up to the window and shot her with a small-caliber handgun. A coworker, Cox’s 20-year-old son Jude, found her lying on the floor.

Cox later died at the hospital from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Detectives were unable to identify a suspect or a motive. They said they want to find Cox’s killer to bring justice to Cox and her family.

“We will always remember Peggy Cox and her family,” said Chief Deborah Faulkner. “We will never stop hunting for her killer, and the answers that Peggy’s family and our community deserve.”

If you know the name of the killer.
