Michael Short Arrested for Alleged Robbery in Petaluma

Police in Petaluma arrested a man this morning in connection with a robbery at a grocery store. Michael Short, 28, of Fairfax, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, according to the Petaluma Police Department.

At 10:54 a.m., officers with were dispatched to a grocery store at 80 Washington Street for a report of a man stealing merchandise. Police said the suspect, later identified as Short, was caught trying to steal merchandise and when confronted, he reached into his pocket and claimed he had a knife.

The suspect left the merchandise behind and fled the store on foot, police said. Officers in the area were able to locate Short nearby, and he was taken into custody without incident. Police short was found to be unarmed, and he is currently on probation for similar crimes.
