A Daly City man was sentenced to nine years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to receipt of child pornography, U.S. Department of Justice officials said.
Ryan Recaido Patacsil, 40, had more than 600 child pornography images, according to judicial officials. He admitted to using peer-to-peer software to access and download child pornography, including images of minors under 12 and portrayals of sexual abuse or exploitation of an infant or toddler, judicial officials said.
Patacsil received a superseding indictment from a federal grand jury April 11 charging him with one count each of possession of child pornography and receipt of child pornography.
Patacsil pleaded guilty to the receipt charge August 2 and the possession charge was dismissed, according to judicial officials. He was sentenced Wednesday.
In addition to the prison term, the sentencing judge, U.S. District Judge Maxine Chesney, ordered Patacsil to serve a seven-year period of supervised release after the prison term ends. Patacsil has been in custody since he was arrested in February and will begin serving his sentence immediately, judicial officials said.
