Central Marin police arrested a man in Corte Madera on Thursday in connection with an auto burglary after the victim allegedly found the suspect rummaging through her vehicle.
Nicholas Shawn Dillon, 33, was arrested on suspicion theft from an unlocked vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and violating the terms of his probation.
Officers with the Central Marin Police Authority responded Thursday at 8:23 a.m. to a report that a woman had discovered a man going through her vehicle. The victim told police her Honda Pilot was parked unlocked in front of her home on Mohawk Avenue. She went out to the vehicle and discovered the suspect rifling through it, police said.
The man, later identified as Dillon, fled the area on foot but responding officers located him on Lakeside Drive, and he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Police said Dillon was in possession of stolen items.
