The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety arrested three people, including a teen girl, on suspicion of carjacking a Jeep Cherokee at knifepoint Thursday afternoon.

The unidentified victim said he knew the three suspects by their first names or street names so he agreed to drive them in his Jeep from the Graton Resort and Casino to a Burger King restaurant around 12:30 p.m., police said. While outside the restaurant, the three suspects then demanded to use the victim’s Jeep to drive to Santa Rosa to sell marijuana that they had found in the Jeep, but the driver refused.

An argument ensued and the driver fled when a male suspect tried to slash him with a knife but missed, and the three suspects drove away in the Jeep, police said. Detectives responded to the incident and the victim pointed out the three suspects seen on surveillance video taken inside the Burger King.

The Department of Public Safety broadcast a description of the Jeep and suspects, who were known to frequent motels in Santa Rosa and visit Northwest Community Park in Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa police found the Jeep and the suspects in the park’s parking lot around 2:15 p.m.

Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety detectives arrested the male suspect with the knife, Emmanuel Corzola Mejia, 36, of Santa Rosa, a female suspect, Athena Gorell, 30, of Sebastopol and a 16-year-old female runaway from Los Angeles on suspicion of carjacking.

Mejia also was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, and Gorell was arrested for possession of a methamphetamine pipe and outstanding warrants. The runaway girl also was arrested for providing a false ID and she was booked in Juvenile Hall.

Detectives were unable to relocate the carjacking victim at the casino.
