83-Year-Old Woman Assaulted in Home Invasion Robbery

A man was shot in the foot this morning during a home invasion robbery of a residence where marijuana was growing, a Santa Rosa police sergeant said. Police responded to Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital around 4 a.m. after receiving a report about a person who was shot in the foot, Sgt. Josh Ludtke said.

The shooting victim was initially uncooperative and tried to avoid contact with police but eventually said he was shot during a home invasion robbery, Ludtke said. The victim said three or four people tried to force their way into his house in the 2700 block of Rochelle Street in west Santa Rosa while he was sleeping, Ludtke said. There was a brief struggle with the suspects at the front door during which the resident was shot in the foot, Ludtke said.

Marijuana was growing inside and outside the house, and police learned the shooting victim had removed an undisclosed amount of marijuana and money from the residence to avoid detection by law enforcement, Ludtke said. The victim was treated at the hospital and released and there is no further information about the suspects, Ludtke said.
