Off-Duty Alameda Police Officer Shoots Home Intruder

Police asked some Alameda residents to shelter in place after an officer-involved shooting Wednesday.

Police initially issued an advisory at 11:04 a.m. and said they were searching for the suspect in the 2000 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

An off duty officer not affiliated with Alameda police shot and wounded an intruder. That suspect was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The road is closed and police have asked residents to avoid the area.

This is a developing story.
