Atlantic City Police Officer Joshlee Vadell in Critical Condition After Being Shot in Shootout with Robbers

Atlantic City Police Officer Joshlee Vadell remains in critical condition following a shootout with a group of armed robbers outside Caesar’s Palace.

Reports indicate around 2:30 a.m. on September 3, Officer Vadell and his partner approached a group of men who looked to be “engaged in criminal activity” near the casino parking garage. As they walked toward the men, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officers.

Officer Vadell was shot in the head. Miraculously, the bullet did not prove fatal. Wasting no time, Officer Vadell’s partner returned fire on the suspects, striking one of them as the others fled the scene.

The man who was shot, identified as 25-year-old Jerome Damon, managed to get a block and a half from the scene before collapsing to the ground and dying from his injuries.

The Damon and his accomplices had reportedly attempted to rob three other men moments earlier. The other two men involved in the incident have been apprehended, while the police officer remains in critical condition following emergency surgery.
