Seven people were arrested Friday in Vallejo on suspicion of soliciting prostitution or loitering with the intent to solicit prostitution, police said today. The sting involving the Police Department’s crime reduction team and investigators from the Solano County District Attorney’s Office occurred around the central part of the city including areas near downtown. The sting was meant to address street-level prostitution, according to police. Officers arrested 40-year-old Vallejo woman Laqueshia Provost, 25-year-old Oakland woman Makineti Samft, 25-year-old Vallejo woman Jazmin Chandler, 26-year-old Vacaville man William Colebass, 27-year-old Vallejo woman Rosa Baez, 31-year-old Berkeley resident Rhonika Johnson and 31-year-old Vallejo resident Channell Sowell. Baez was also arrested on suspicion of a probation violation and Samft on a no bail felony warrant, police said. The sting was meant to send a message that prostitution in the city will not be tolerated.
