A man allegedly punched an older man in a wheelchair, knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the head during an argument near the Balboa Park BART station Saturday night, police said. The victim, a 62-year-old man in a wheelchair, got into an argument with a 30-year-old man in the area of Geneva and San Jose avenues around 6:20 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The suspect allegedly began to punch the older man in the face, then tipped him out of the wheelchair and onto the ground, then kicked him in the head and caused him to lose consciousness, according to police. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, but is expected to survive, police said.

The suspect was taken into custody. Police did not immediately release his name this morning.
