A 69 year man shot and stopped an armed robbery suspect who approached him in the front yard of his home, located in the 1300 block of Calle San Carlos, just before 9 PM last night.

The investigation of the crime revealed that the man and a woman arrived at their home and parked in their carport driveway. As they both exited the car, a suspect, wearing a hoodie, approached the couple pointing a gun at the man. The suspect made demands for the victim to give up his wallet. The man, a firearms license to carry holder, fearing for his safety and the safety of the female with him, pulled out his handgun and shot the 23 year old robbery suspect.
The man then held the suspect down until police arrived. The suspect was then transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS.

Officers recovered two handguns from the crime scene.

The suspect is in the hospital under police guard and faces charges of aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is currently in stable condition.

No charges are expected to be filed against the man who shot the suspect.
