Joseph Montgomery is being sought in the May 10 Mothers Day slaying of 34-year-old Jermaine Kennedy. Kennedy, who had ties to Richmond and Vallejo, was shot numerous times in the chest and abdomen outside an apartment at 79 Cole Dr. about 1 a.m., said Marin County sheriff’s Lt. Jamie Scardina. Kennedy died at Marin General Hospital.

Kennedy was among a group of people who had attended memorial events for a homicide victim from Sacramento with ties to Marin City, authorities said. Kennedy and Montgomery had known each other for many years, Scardina said.

The gun used to kill Kennedy has not been recovered, and Montgomery should be considered Armed and Dangerous, Scardina said. The suspect has family living in Marin City, San Jose, Vallejo,Santa Rosa, Louisiana and Los Angeles authorities said.
