A Watsonville man was arrested in Seaside early this morning after leading sheriff’s deputies on a vehicle pursuit and crashing into two parked cars. Deputies attempted to stop 29-year-old Jaime Ayala, who was allegedly speeding in a Honda Accord, at 12:58 a.m. in the vicinity of Imjin Parkway and Imjin Road in Marina.
Ayala was allegedly driving recklessly as he led deputies on a 10-mile pursuit into Seaside. After Ayala crashed into two vehicles, deputies said, they used a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) to prevent his escape. Ayala attempted to flee on foot, according to deputies, but he was taken into custody with a Taser and a K9 unit.
The suspect was later found to be on active probation.
As a result of the incident he suffered lacerations and puncture wounds to the right forearm as well as bruising to the head, deputies said.
