Stephen Gause-Subia arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder of 83 and 60 year old women in Gilroy

A 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his aunt and grandma in Gilroy on Monday evening, police said today. Stephen Gause-Subia, of Gilroy, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder, police said. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in the 8400 block of Wayland Lane at about 6:15 p.m., police said. A dispatcher taking the report heard a woman screaming on the other line, was told someone was bleeding and that someone had been beaten, according to police.

Arriving officers found two Gilroy women, ages 60 and 83, suffering from stab wounds to the head, face and extremities, police said. The women were airlifted to a trauma center and underwent surgery, according to police. As of this afternoon, the 83-year-old woman was in critical condition and the 60-year-old woman was in serious but stable condition, police said.

Gause-Subia had fled the area before officers reached the scene and was later identified as the suspect by investigators, police said. The older victim was determined to be the man’s grandma and other victim is his aunt, according to police. Gause-Subia was found walking along Murray Avenue around 8:20 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
