Police arrested a 36-year-old woman on suspicion of stabbing a Clayton resident early Monday morning, police said today. Angel Mingus, who is homeless, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary, and Clayton police Chief Chris Thorsen said the stabbing was not random. “The suspect and the victim’s son are acquaintances,” Thorsen said. “This wasn’t a random act.” Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. Monday to a report from a woman in the 900 block of Arrowhead Terrace, Thorsen said.
He said officers found a 57-year-old woman suffering from severe injuries to her neck. She was able to provide officers with information about Mingus and officers in the Concord Police Department, who were assisting Clayton police, found her roughly three to four blocks away, according to Thorsen. Investigators are still trying to determine why Mingus was at the woman’s house and what led to the attack, Thorsen said. The victim is expected to survive, he said.
