Police arrested a man Wednesday morning, after he allegedly committed an armed robbery at a market. At 5:42 a.m., police responded to a call from an employee at a Quick Stop Market, located at 11 Clark St., police said.

The employee said the suspect had chrome colored handgun and took an undisclosed amount of cash, before running south from the business, according to police.

A short time later, police located the suspect in the 100 block of Clark Street. Paul Becker, 26, ran and jumped several fences in an attempt to evade officers, police said. Officers eventually found Becker in the yard of a nearby business, according to police. Becker was cut by razor wire on the top of a fence as he was evading arrest.

He was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released, police said. The stolen money was recovered, however police did not recover Becker’s handgun and the clothes he was wearing during the robbery, police said. Officers booked Becker into the Monterey County Jail for armed robbery, police said.
