Two suspects have been charged with special circumstances murder for the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old man in Oakland’s Fruitvale district last Sunday night, prosecutors police said today.
Basilio Pablo Ramirez, a native of Guatemala, died after he was shot in front of his home in the 1500 block of 39th Avenue, just north of International Boulevard, at 9:21 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
Suspects Vicente Prado-Rodriguez and Cinthia Gabriel-Martinez, both 19, were arrested on Monday and were charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday, according to prosecutors and police.
In addition to murder, Prado-Rodriguez and Gabriel-Martinez were charged with the special circumstance of committing a murder during a robbery, according to police.
Prado-Rodriguez and Gabriel-Martinez were also charged with armed robbery for an incident in the 5000 block of International Boulevard shortly before Ramirez was killed, police said.
