Campbell police and the Santa Clara County Fire Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man suspected of setting fire to a parked work van early on March 30, police said today.

Video footage from a surveillance system showed the suspect approach the vehicle at 4:07 a.m. on March 30 in a parking lot at 210 Curtner Ave. in Campbell just before the van caught fire, officers said.

The arson suspect appeared to be a white man in his 20s with a light build, wearing what looks like a The North Face-brand jacket, jeans and skate shoes, according to police.

He was also carrying a duffle bag, police said.

The suspect, who may have suffered injuries to his hand and face from the fire, was last seen fleeing the area on foot north on South McGlincy Lane just east of state Highway 17, they said.

Those with information about the suspected arson are urged to make a report to the Santa Clara County Fire Department online at http://www.sccfd.org/arson-tip-line.

People wishing to supply a tip anonymously may call Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-7867.
