Novato police arrested two people Saturday on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, resisting arrest and bringing a controlled substance into a correctional facility, police have announced.
The incident leading up to the arrest took place at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday near 7316 Redwood Blvd. in Novato, police officials said.
The victim in the robbery told responding officers that two people took an aggressive stance toward him and challenged him to a fight. The victim fled and left his backpack behind, which the suspects rummaged through, police said.
Police arrested 24-year-old Ryan Grimes and 27-year-old Antoine Childs in the incident.
The investigation by police leads them to believe that the two worked together to intimidate the victim and steal his belongings.
Police said when they contacted Childs he refused to comply with their commands and that he resisted arrest. Neither Childs nor police officers were injured in the incident, police said.
According to police, Childs was in possession of narcotics when he was booked into the Marin County Jail.
