Fairfield police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in a home last week.

Lamar Adams, 27, of Fairfield, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of Tanglewood Drive in Fairfield on suspicion of the killing of 26-year-old Marquise Carter.

Adams was living in a residence in the 1500 block of Union Avenue where Carter was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head around 1:25 a.m. on Oct. 14, police Lt. Stephen Crane said.

Adams was an associate of Carter and allowed him access to the Union Avenue home, Crane said.

Adams had associations to Vallejo and Oakland, including a residence in the 800 block of 59th Street in Oakland where Fairfield police recovered a semi-automatic handgun Friday evening, Crane said.

Adams, a convicted felon, is on probation and has prior law enforcement contacts for robbery, criminal conspiracy, possession of cocaine for sale, transportation of controlled substances, obstructing and evading law enforcement and firearm violations, Crane said.

Adams was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of murder, a probation violation and firearm enhancements, Crane said.
