Richard Diaz Arrested by Fresno Police Violent Crime Impact Team

On Sunday 9-7-14 at 11:00 PM officers from the Violent Crime Impact Team were patrolling the area of Pleasant and Fedora in Northwest Fresno. They saw a man, later identified as 26 year old Richard Diaz, crouched down behind a car possible trying to hide from them.

As they approached, he got up and quickly walked toward a fence along an apartment complex. He then pulled something from his waistband and threw it on the ground and tried kicking it under the fence.

As the officers got close they saw that he was trying to kick a handgun and detained him. Officer discovered that he was wanted on a probation warrant and also had drugs on him. He is a self admitted bulldog gang member.

The handgun was loaded and believed to be stolen. Diaz was arrested and booked on multiple weapon and drug charges.
