Two suspects arrested at the scene of a residential burglary in San Leandro on Thursday have been linked to a similar burglary that took place near the same area, police said.
Oakland residents Vicente Moreno, 20, and Sellenah Arteaga, 30, targeted a home in the 14900 block of Ebb Tide Street on Thursday when the homeowner heard them breaking and entering around 3:20 p.m., police said.
The victim hid in the house during the break-in and called 911 for help.
When police arrived on the scene, they caught the two suspects as they were leaving out the front door. Small, concealable items stolen from the home were found in their possession, police said.
After comparing the burglary with others in the area, police concluded that the two suspects might be connected to a similar burglary that took place on Fjord Street in the same neighborhood on Monday.
Police searched the Oakland home of the two suspects and found a stolen semi-automatic handgun that was taken during Monday’s burglary.
Moreno and Arteaga are being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, and will be arraigned on suspicion of residential burglary in Alameda County Superior Court on Monday.
