A man that police say escaped from prison 37 years ago has been captured at his home last Monday. Alleged escapee Dallas Smallwood was starting a routine Monday morning in Zeeland near Grand Rapids, Michigan when US Marshals and state police knocked on his door informing him they were there to place him under arrest.
Smallwood tried to convince the they had the wrong man and he was in fact Waylon Wilson, the alias he had been using for decades. However a check of his fingers proved that he was Smallwood. He was serving a five-year sentence for grand larceny and receiving stolen goods in South Carolina, when he escaped in 1977.
