San Mateo police are seeking the community’s help in catching a suspect who robbed a pizza parlor at gunpoint on Friday night, officers said. Police received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at the Little Caesars Pizza restaurant at 615 E. Third Ave. shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday night.

The police investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store, located just east of Delaware Street, at about 9:45 p.m. The suspect brandished what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from a 19-year-old female employee, according to police. He then fled the restaurant with the money and headed east on Third Avenue on foot.

He appeared to be making a call on his cellphone as he left the scene, police said. The suspect’s face was covered with a green piece of clothing during the robbery, police said. Video surveillance captured an image of the suspect, however his face is obscured.

The suspect is described as a black man in his mid to late 20s, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build, police said. He was wearing a baggy white long-sleeved T-shirt and baggy black pants. He was also wearing black and white gloves similar to batting gloves, police said. Detectives are looking for any additional information the public may have about this case.
