Police are searching for a woman who is wanted on kidnapping charges in connection to the on-going Spokane kidnapping and Stevens County murder investigation.

On Friday, Spokane detectives received information that led them to the discovery of a body off Highway 291 near Long Lake. Detectives believed the body was dumped there a week earlier. Court documents stated that the victim was killed because of stolen money and drugs.

Authorities interviewed the victim’s girlfriend who explained what happened. She claimed her boyfriend David M. Whitman and two others had been trafficking drugs. Court documents stated that the three men were at odds over money. She claimed that one man convinced another that Whitman had stolen money and drugs.

On February 28, the murder victim and his girlfriend went to a home near Maple and Knox. One of the men and the murder victim were armed according to the girlfriend’s interview with police. She claimed the man and her boyfriend went into a bedroom. She then heard three gunshots and saw two men and her boyfriend get into a physical fight. She heard a fourth gunshot. She said one man then hit her boyfriend with a metal baseball bat according to court records.

The girlfriend told police that two women forced her into a bedroom when she tried to intervene. Rogers, the woman police are searching for, was allegedly one of them.

Police said Rogers allegedly put duct tape over the girlfriend’s mouth and put her in a room.

The girlfriend claimed that she hobbled into the living room about 30 minutes later. She said the two other women were cleaning blood from the floor and walls according to her interview. Police said one of those women was allegedly Rogers.
