A sheriff’s deputy who shot a man described as suicidal in Saratoga this afternoon was also injured in the incident, and both are being treated at a hospital, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 12:01 p.m. report of a suicidal man in the 12000 block of Saratoga Avenue, near McFarland Avenue, Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said. Fire units were also sent to the scene.
After deputies arrived, there was some kind of altercation between the man and the deputy. The deputy fired at least one shot, wounding the man, according to Stenderup. The deputy was also injured, and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, Stenderup said. The condition of the man who was shot was not yet available, and deputies are at the scene talking to witnesses and gathering evidence, Stenderup said.
