San Jose Police Department Press Release 7/25/12
The San Jose Police Department, while assisting in a Gilroy Police investigation, arrested a suspect with a $1,000,000.00 felony warrant for firearms violations. The Gilroy Police Department developed information that the suspect was possibly in the City of San Jose and requested the assistance of the San Jose Police Department. The San Jose Police Department’s Covert Response Unit responded to assist in the case.
At approxmately 8:05 P.M., the CRU officers located the suspect and eventually stopped him in his vehilce on northbound Highway 17, south of The Summit. The CRU officers took the suspect into custody without incident.
A Santa Clara County Adult Probation Officer who was present as part of the investigation but not involved in the actual arrest of the suspect, had an accidental discharge with his firearm causing a non-life threatening injury to himself. The Probation Officer was treated at a local hospital for his injuries. There were no other injuries. The suspect was turned over to Gilroy Police Detectives as part of their investigation.
