A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg Monday night while standing in the driveway of a Salinas home, police said. The victim and another teen, age 17, were standing outside a home  in the 800 block of Cari Court when two men walked up and asked them if they were gang members, according to police.

When the teens replied that they were not, the men pulled out handguns and started shooting at them. The 16-year-old was hit in the leg, police said. He was later transported to a hospital, and is expected to survive. Police said that there was little information provided about the suspects, and that they are investigating the incident.
