Three were arrested for loitering with the intent to commit prostitution in Santa Cruz Friday, after police staked out a motel in the lower Ocean Street area, police said. After receiving complaints of prostitution in that neighborhood, officers conducted surveillance on a motel on the 100 block of Canfield Street. One witness provided police with very specific descriptions of suspected prostitutes, and based on those descriptions police followed two women loitering in the area.
After they attempted to stop at least one passing motorist, police arrested Mamie Jackson, 20, of Rancho Cordova and Sabrina Martinez, 21, of Sacramento at 10:15 p.m., according to Santa Cruz police. Martinez turned 22 on Saturday. Later, police also arrested Angel Munoz, 30, of Campbell for the same charge, after observing her in the same area attempting to make contact with passing drivers.
