Nearly 23 years after 21-year-old Kristi Harris was found stabbed to death in her San Jose apartment, a Santa Clara County jury today found the suspect in the case, Charles Grant, guilty of first-degree murder for the killing. Harris, a hairstylist who was engaged at the time she was killed, was found dead at her apartment by her roommate on Aug. 29, 1988, according to police. Grant was arrested in August 2008 after his DNA was matched to DNA evidence taken from the apartment. Police said Grant, who was known to use drugs around the time of the murder, was Harris’ next-door neighbor. The verdict was read shortly before 11 a.m. today. There were eight men and four women on the jury. Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge David Cena ordered Grant to return to court for sentencing on Sept. 8.
