A Watsonville man was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly robbing another man at gunpoint in a Santa Cruz residential neighborhood, according to police.Julio Chavez, 21, and an unidentified suspect approached a victim near the 300 block of West Cliff Drive at about 1:50 a.m., police said.The two suspects demanded at gunpoint that the victim give them whatever he had on him, and he complied, police said.Chavez and the other suspect, a 24- to 30-year-old man wearing a dark overcoat, ran away on foot, police said.
The victim, an unidentified 27-year-old Santa Cruz man, went to a nearby home and called the police.Officers arrived a short time later and found Chavez close by. He was identified as being linked to the robbery and arrested, and was taken to Santa Cruz County Jail, police said.The other suspect remains at large. He is described as a light-skinned black man who is 6 feet 2 inches tall.
