A South San Francisco man was arrested Friday on suspicion of striking two pedestrians and a car with his van while driving drunk, police said. Richard Cronin, 53, was driving his van on Radburn Drive in South San Francisco when he hit the pedestrians at about 6:10 p.m. Police said that as Cronin approached Williams Court, a 21-year-old woman and her 23-year-old boyfriend ran into the road chasing their dog. Cronin allegedly struck both pedestrians and continued driving, according to police. Police said Cronin then rear-ended a vehicle a few blocks away before he was taken into custody in the Westborough Square parking lot. Both pedestrians were transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of their wounds. The woman suffered a spinal injury and the man broke his hip, police said. A passenger in the vehicle that was rear-ended complained of pain to her lower back, and her husband drove her to a hospital for treatment. Cronin was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and two felony hit-and-run charges. He was booked into San Mateo County Jail and bail was set at $100,000, police said.
