* Robert Mendoza Arrested in Santa Rosa for Being Alleged Gang Member and Felon in Possession of a Firearm

A man who police say is a known gang member was arrested Thursday afternoon in Santa Rosa on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, police said. Robert Mendoza, 22, was arrested at about 2 p.m. after police stopped two vehicles in connection with an ongoing investigation, and then executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Stony Point Road, according to police. Officers allegedly found a loaded firearm with the serial number removed in one of the stopped vehicles. Mendoza, a Santa Rosa resident, was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition and a firearm, being a gang member in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with
an altered serial number, and two gang enhancements, police said.
