A driver whose vehicle tumbled over to the side of the highway fled just before assistance arrived, a California Highway Patrol officer said. At approximately 6 a.m., CHP was dispatched to southbound U.S. Highway 101, near the Rowland Boulevard exit, on report of an overturned black sedan blocking the slow lane, California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Anderson said. Officers en route to the accident called in emergency medical and fire personnel but, according to Anderson, the driver had fled on foot before help arrived. At about 6:09 a.m., CHP officers began searching nearby streets for the motorist, who police described as an adult Hispanic male with dark hair and wearing a red jacket. As of 6:29 a.m., Anderson said the search was still under way. The cause of the crash and the extent of the driver’s injuries remains unknown, Anderson said.
