A woman killed in a murder-suicide in San Jose on Monday night by a man she had a protective order against has been identified, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
Ciria Sanchez Diaz, 32, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the parking lot of a Denny’s on the corner of East Alma and South First streets, police said. The man who shot her, who police identified Wednesday night as Timoteo Morales, 42, was also found suffering from a gunshot wound in the same area. Police said that after he shot and killed Diaz he fatally shot himself.
Both Diaz and Morales were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Morales allegedly confronted Diaz in the parking lot before pulling out a gun. He shot at a security guard but missed, police said. The case was the city’s fourth homicide of 2018, police said.
Anyone with further information about the case is asked to call Detective Sgt. Bert Milliken or Detective Raul Corral with the Police Department’s homicide unit at (408) 277-5283.
