Craig Cuthbert and Fredachi Stone Arrested in Connection with Stabbing, Robbery Cases on BART

Arrests have been made by police in separate alleged felony cases that occurred recently on BART property, BART officials said today. Police arrested 24-year-old Craig Cuthbert on suspicion of stabbing two people Sunday morning at the Lafayette BART station.

Cuthbert, a transient from Salt Lake City, Utah, allegedly turned himself in to San Francisco police Wednesday afternoon. BART police said that they were able to identify Cuthbert as a suspect after someone saw a video image of him from a camera on a train.

Police are investigating whether the two adults Cuthbert allegedly stabbed had stolen items from his bag while he was sleeping on a train.

This morning at about 3 a.m. Fremont police detained a man for allegedly jaywalking and learned he had a warrant out for his arrest for a robbery on a BART train Sept. 11.

Fredachi Stone, 37, is alleged to have shown a handgun and then taken a woman’s purse on a train traveling between Hayward and South Hayward stations. Police found Stone also with the help of video from a camera on a train, according to BART officials.
