The Sonoma County coroner’s office has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing in Petaluma early Sunday morning as Cristian Nunez-Castro, 24, of Windsor. Nunez-Castro and another person were stabbed around 1:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Kentucky Street as bars and nightclubs were closing, police Sgt. Tim Lyons said.

Officers found Nunez-Castro in the Golden Concourse pedestrian walkway between Kentucky and Keller streets, Lyons said. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he died. The second stabbing victim was treated at the scene and taken to the Petaluma Police Department for questioning.

The stabbing suspect may have fled on foot to the Keller Street parking garage and got into a vehicle, Lyons said. Police are investigating whether the victims knew the suspect, Lyons said.
