Pitcairn police say a woman is facing charges for leaving her five children alone while she drove her boyfriend across the state to Philadelphia.
Police Chief Scott Farally said Tiffany Jackson, 34, and Raheem Harvey, 24, both of Pitcairn, were arrested Friday at the Quality Inn in Greensburg.
Employees saw a news report about the abandoned children and called police. Jackson and Harvey tried to flee when state police arrived Friday morning. Police used a stun gun on Harvey before taking him into custody.
Harvey already had a warrant out for his arrest. He faces misdemeanor charges including simple assault and disorderly conduct.
Jackson’s charges include felony counts of endangering the welfare of children and hindering apprehension or prosecution, and misdemeanor counts of obstruction and recklessly endangering another person.
Police say the woman’s children range in age from 16 years to 9 months.
Jackson was previously convicted in 2011 of endangering the welfare of children and she spent two years under house arrest.
Jackson was taken to a district judge in Monroeville for arraignment.
Harvey is in the Westmoreland County Jail.
