A Sonoma County Jail inmate who was vomiting and having trouble breathing died this morning, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
Jail staff called for an ambulance at 9:52 a.m. and the male inmate became unresponsive two minutes later, sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Crum said. Corrections officers started CPR and a paramedic arrived at 9:56 a.m. to assist. The inmate was pronounced dead a short time later, Crum said.
The death does not appear to be a suicide and the inmate was not involved in a confrontation, Crum said.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and will ensure an autopsy is completed by an outside coroner’s office, Crum said.
