3 People Shot in Berkeley, Police Investigating

Police are asking members of the public with information about a shooting Saturday a block from the University of California at Berkeley to contact the Berkeley police department.

Three people were hospitalized after the shooting, which happened around 2:42 a.m. near the corner of Durant Avenue and Bowditch Street, police said.

Three victims were taken to Highland Hospital with gunshot wounds in the lower legs, according to police. The shots were fired after two groups got into a fight, according to Berkeley police Sgt. Cesar Melero.

Two suspects were arrested, and police described the suspects as a 19-year-old black man and a 24-year-old Hispanic man.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and anyone with information should contact the Berkeley police department at (510) 981-5900.
