There is outrage from the law enforcement community after a judge released a man accused of attacking an NYPD officer in Brooklyn. Police say 29-year-old Kurdel Emmanuel walked into the 83rd Precinct in Bushwick and tried to take an officer’s gun away from her.
Police say another officer then stepped in and put Emmanuel in handcuffs. The Brooklyn DA’s office asked for $250,000 bail, but the judge released Emmanuel without any bail at all. The next night, the police officers’ union slammed the decision, pointing out that Officer Miosotis Familia was murdered in the Bronx just last week.
