Bomb squad officers with the San Jose Police Department removed a suspicious bottle of liquid from a South San Jose charter middle school this morning, police said. Officers responded to Bridges Academy at 1702 McLaughlin Ave. around 8:20 a.m. after a school staff member reported finding a backpack containing the bottle, which was labeled “nitroglycerin.”
The school was evacuated and traffic on McLaughlin between Bacchus and Audubon drives was blocked. Officers will test the liquid before they dispose of it, San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said at 10:35 a.m. Police are set to reopen McLaughlin to traffic about 30 minutes after they finish sweeping the school.
