Police arrested two men early this morning outside an Antioch fast food restaurant following a call from someone who alleged the men were armed with a rifle. Michael Ferreira, 19, and Carlos Cabezas, 32, both of Antioch, were arrested after someone called police at 4:52 a.m. and said the men were allegedly in a car with a rifle at the Jack In The Box at 2505 A St. When officers arrived, they tried to speak with Ferreira and Cabezas from a distance but neither responded.
Officers had a hard time seeing inside the car because the windows were tinted, but when the officers walked up to the car they were able to talk to the two, who had been passed out in the vehicle. Inside the car, police allegedly found a loaded short-barreled shotgun, a military-style rifle and marijuana. Ferreira and Cabezas were arrested without any trouble and were taken to the county jail in Martinez.
Ferreira is accused of possessing marijuana for sale, being a felon in possession of a gun, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possessing a short-barreled gun, the illegal possession of an assault weapon, and violating his probation. Cabezas is accused of possessing marijuana for sale, possessing a short-barreled gun and the illegal possession of an assault weapon.
